Take a closer look at our 70th Anniversary Campaign and how artisans and creators are celebrating Laura Ashley prints
In 1953, Laura and Bernard Ashley launched their company by printing fabric at their kitchen table and built a global brand on traditional values of quality and originality. Paying tribute to that entrepreneurial spirit, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary by spreading iconic Laura Ashley prints from our archive around the globe while also honouring artisans and creators who have been helping us spread the print through their unique craft.
Laura Ashley Social Scenes: This year we are spreading our prints far and wide across iconic and unique locations around the world. Follow along on Instagram and see what location will get a Laura Ashley makeover next.
Laura Ashley Telephone Box: London fans were able to capture their own Laura Ashley moment while visiting a telephone box wrapped in our 70th Anniversary Tulips print. Inside was an opportunity to immerse themselves in all things Laura Ashley and experience a miniature exhibition showcasing prints, sketches, crockery, and fabrics across 70 years.
Laura Ashley Car:Our 70th-anniversary hero print, Tulips, got to drive the streets of Yorkshire thanks to Jack D. March of @jackdmarch. He had the idea to wrap his car, named Maude, with the iconic print pulled from the Laura Ashley archives.
Laura Ashley Events: Fans have been helping us celebrate Laura Ashley’s anniversary all year by attending events in Charleston and Texas and, most recently, the Chelsea Flower Show in the UK. Keep a look out for more events to come. We would love for you to help us celebrate 70 years of Laura Ashley.
Laura Ashley Pressed Flower Art: @florallaurauk handmade this piece of art with dried flowers inspired by our special anniversary logo and Gilly print. “Having loved Laura Ashley’s style since I was a teenager (as well as currently choosing between their designs for my living room curtains), this was such a wonderful opportunity,” said Laura of @florallaurauk.
Laura Ashley Cake by @bake.works: With an inspiring start-up story built upon originality, the Laura Ashley story remains synonymous with beauty and design. For a special occasion, everyone must celebrate with a gorgeous cake, so we asked cake artist Sarah Arnold of @bake.works to create a beautiful cake adorned by our iconic Summer Palace print from the Laura Ashley archive.
Laura Ashley Embroidered Piece by @em_bea_roidery: Using our Gilly print from the 70th Anniversary Collection as the inspiration, Beatrice from @em_bea_roidery used a mix of hand-painted watercolour and hand-embroidered outlines and details in this beautiful piece. Mrs. Ashley has inspired countless women for generations, so it was fitting that Beatrice unveiled her embroidery creation on International Womens Day.
Laura Ashley 70th Anniversary Brooch @firelilydesign: Charlotte Johnson, an embroidery artist and seamstress from @firelilydesign, was inspired by the 70th Anniversary logo and created a handmade pin with beautiful details. The logo features the iconic bramble, developed by Mrs. Ashley, showing her love for wildlife and British hedgerows. Charlotte says, “I am inspired to follow in the footsteps of those creating something with passion and a love for nature.”
Laura Ashley Leaf Art by @ishan_arts: Continuing to celebrate all art forms, entrepreneurial ambition, craft and creation, Laura Ashley tapped leaf artist Ishan Maharjan of @ishan_arts to recreate our new 70th-anniversary logo as leaf art.
Laura Ashley Embroidery by @bykatieolivia: Katie Olivia of @bykatieolivia reimagined our 70th-anniversary logo as embroidery featuring our beautiful new Gilly print, inspired by the Laura Ashley archive, but in her signature neutral tones. Her handmade designs are a modern take on embroidery. “Mine, of course, being embroidery, I chose the beautiful bunch of flowers from her pattern and the new logo as a central point,” says Katie.
Laura Ashley Handpainting by @by.chloe.louise.art: Illustrator Chloe Louise of @by.chloe.louise.art reimagined our logo in watercolour featuring a sketch of our founder Laura Ashley herself.
Laura Ashley Kids Floral Stand: Chloe from @oaktreehome loves florals, country interiors and crafts, so she was inspired to upcycle this charming little kids’ theatre with our Parterre Blush Fabric as the canopy for its new life as a beautiful “flower shop” for her kids to play with.
