The previous owner warned us that there were a few bedrooms in this home that were a little outdated.  Even though pink wallpaper and paint coated this room like a swig of Pepto Bismol, I was initially ok with it.  After all, my daughter’s favorite colour IS pink.  But sometimes more of a good thing doesn’t always make it better. I had an idea rolling around in my brain for a while about a white bedroom.  I wanted something that would grow up with my daughter, something that would be timeless.  (They don’t stay little for long!)  I soon discovered a collection curated by Laura Ashley USA.

As I created a mood board, I began to see how this room could come together.

They had everything I needed, even the perfect white paint called Cotton White.  It is the perfect white with a little warmth and the a beautiful sheen.  We decided to ditch the pink carpet as well and do a laminate floor from Home Depot.  We fell in love with the Vintage Pewter Oak and looked forward to testing out it’s waterproof capabilities.  (Just kidding, I dread any liquid spilling on my floors!)

After the walls were painted and the flooring was in, we were ready to tackle the wallpaper.  This is the second time we have wallpapered, so we were feeling like seasoned veterans.  Plus, we weren’t wallpapering the whole wall, so it was going to be a piece of cake!  Well, it ended up taking us a couple days.  Wallpapering is not easy, but not impossible either!

Once the wallpaper was up and the lighting from Lighting Design Company was in, I really started feeling the room was coming together!  I loved the way the wallpaper looked in three sections.  I have always been drawn to the look of mill work mixed with paper, and was one of my favourite searches on Pinterest.  Seriously, go search it!  There are so many cool ideas!

I had never hung pencil pleated curtains before and I had to search for some tutorials on how to hang them correctly.  They result was fantastic!  I used black hardware from Ikea and I’m currently obsessed with sliding them open in the morning like I’m the hired help (like on Downton Abbey, I don’t actually have anyone helping me).

I really wanted a rug that would make the room feel ultra soft and cozy for my little girl, this Kathy Ireland Rug by Nourison fit the bill exactly.  We may or may not have tried to make snow angels in it while we were playing in the adorable play tee pee from Tiny Land.

I couldn’t wait to dress up this white vintage inspired metal daybed with the gorgeous embroidered bedding from Laura Ashley.  I love the duvet and I’m accepting the challenge to keep it white and beautiful!

This bedroom renovation ended up being one of my all time favourite redos!  I believe all the beautiful decor from Laura Ashley Home and their Silver Silhouette Collection made it easy to coordinate and make it our own.
