HOW TO DESIGN A KITCHEN UPGRADE

Add Tile and Personality That Will Stand the Test of Time

From inspiration to installation, a kitchen should be an uplifting space since it is the heart of the home and the room we use the most.  Gone are stark white kitchens with the all-white tile of the early 2000s. We are seeing a return to statement tiles that add texture, colour, personality, and interest to any kitchen or any space suitable for tile.

With British country aesthetic at its core, we’ve partnered with The Tile Shopto create a new collection of Laura Ashley tiles using signature prints from our extensive archives. The tiles have been upgraded to a durable porcelain material, allowing these signature looks to be used in even more spaces of the home, whether its a bathroom, mudroom, laundry room or kitchen.

Here is how to use tile to design a classic kitchen:

  • Go Graphic: “Graphic kitchen floors perfectly complement a white subway tile backsplash, which is always a classic,” says The Tile Shop’s Jill Byrnes. “Porcelain statement floors are a modern twist on Victorian cement encaustic tiles.” Choose a geometric print such as Laura Ashley Mr. Jones, a design by Laura Ashley herself, in Charcoal for contrast in light and dark greys.

  • Make a Statement:  Use statement tile for an instant upgrade and new look for the backsplash or bar area in the kitchen. It will help define a space, add personality and give a fresh look without having to completely remodel the entire kitchen. Our favourite statement-making tile is the timeless Laura Ashley Wicker tile in charcoal

  • Be British: Oversized tempered glass splashbacks, a British must-have, are designed to fit the space between stovetops and cabinetry in the kitchen as well as behind the sink. Choose a floral motif or geometric print from our range of seven splashbacks designed with Laura Ashley’s most iconic and loved prints.
