When Laura Ashley asked if I would like to choose a look from their new season collection, I was instantly drawn to their shirt dresses. I find this style of dress such an easy shape to wear for many different occasions. As far as dresses go, the shirt dress is a wardrobe staple. No longer confined to formal office wear, the shirt dress is modern and will become your go-to dress.
I fell in love with the print of this Sleeveless Check Shirt Dress. As someone who is drawn to blacks and grey’s, a hint of colour and pattern creates a refreshing addition to my wardrobe and is perfect for a brighter summer look.
The fabric is beautiful and hangs perfectly, skimming all those bits we want it to, whilst the belted waist creates the perfect feminine silhouette.
One of the things I love about this dress is the midi-length; this is my favourite length of dress to wear and perfectly on-trend. Another is the button up front; this allows you to change the look and feel of the dress by either unbuttoning a couple of buttons at the neck or a few of the bottom buttons for a more relaxed, sassy look.
I paired this dress with a denim jacket for a dressed down style that I would wear for an everyday look. You could equally style this shirt dress up with heels and a clutch for a special occasion; it is so easily wearable.
The red Linen Belted Shirt Dress is such a classic summer dress, again perfect for any occasion or an ideal holiday dress. The pleats down the front and back and the belted waist make this shirt dress super flattering. I instantly felt sophisticated and summery in it.
