Cheryl Luckett Shares Nursery Must-Haves
With the belief that nurseries and children’s rooms should be a bit of magic mixed with a touch of timeless sophistication, we turned to Cheryl Luckett, the owner and principal designer of Dwell by Cheryl Interiors, for her top tips on how to decorate for little ones.
A master at mixing beautiful pieces that tell a story, Cheryl shared her signature style with this recently designed nursery for a client that also included Laura Ashley Pussy Willow Pencil Pleat Ready Made Curtains. “My design aesthetic is colourful, classic, cultured, and cosy,” says Cheryl. “We always aim to create spaces that are a true reflection of our client’s journey and lifestyle.”
Cheryl’s Four Tips for Nursery Must-Haves:
- Statement Lighting. Nurseries are unique in that they often include open space in the center of the room. This creates a prime opportunity for statement lighting to draw the eye up and expand the space.
- Select a colour scheme that will transition as the child grows. Even when the crib is converted or removed, ensure that the space can be easily altered with a few tweaks to create a more age-appropriate space.
- Add depth and warmth with vintage pieces or wood tones. This will create a more collected look and keep the space from feeling so “new”.
- Invest in art that will grow with the child. Art can be a great jumping-off point for starting a nursery or kid’s space. Investing in an original piece can be a nice addition to the space and can become a keepsake for the child (or parent) to treasure for years to come.
With Cheryl’s tips in mind and using her nursery as inspiration, we gathered décor ideas for the Laura Ashley fan looking for a room that will be perfect for new arrivals but can easily transition as they grow.
