Tablescape inspiration from event planner Kristina Miller
This holiday we are focused on the joy of the season and the special moments around the table with close family and friends. A self-admitted tablescape enthusiast, event planner Kristina Miller of @kristinamillerevents is helping us bring the holly jolly this year with her table setting style.
Kristina says, “I would definitely call myself a “Grandmillenial” so I tend to gravitate towards products that have a more vintage Laura Ashley feel (florals, chinoiserie, chintz, etc.). I am really passionate about table linens as they can drastically change even the simplest of table settings.”
To bring dramatic change and set the scene for the holidays, Kristina tapped our luxurious and sophisticated Belvedere Soft Truffle Wallpaper in natural shades and rich truffle as the inspiration for her seasonal table. Using the wallpaper as a table runner provides the stage for your accessories and your personality to shine.
Kristina’s Tip: Use what you have! Have some extra fabric or the end of a wallpaper roll lying around? Use it as a table runner as I’ve done here! What makes tablescaping so fun is there really are no rules. I’m all for table setting etiquette, but the decor is where you can really get creative!
Feminine touches such as heirloom monogrammed napkins tied up in delicate velvet bows and decadent red candles in vintage brass candlesticks add a touch of the holiday spirit mixed with memories of family and holidays past. Look for decorative accessories such as our stylish cranes and gold painted pinecones to add a warm glow to the table.
Kristina’s Tip: Shop your own home. I love to take a walk around my house and pull little trinkets and decorative items for a unique surprise in my tablescapes. They can be a great conversation starter and I love to share the stories behind where I’ve found each item whether it be an estate sale or HomeGoods!
There is no need for a plethora of matching vases down the center of the table if you don’t have them. Use Kristina’s holiday table for inspiration and layer magnolia leaves, berries, and eucalyptus branches among the candlesticks for a gorgeous and simple way to add a touch of greenery.
Kristina’s Tip: If you’re tight on time, use grocery store flowers! Trader Joe’s is my special secret for inexpensive floral arrangements.
When large parties or even too many holiday dishes feel overwhelming, look for single-use options like our Laura Ashley disposable dinnerware and party sets as a unique and alternative way to dine. Elevate the disposable dinnerware with chargers from your own collection. Kristina says that this is a great alternative for those who aren’t looking to redecorate but want to add something new to their table decor.
If you are ready to pull out all of the stops, be sure to add greenery to the chandelier like Kristina and touch up the bar cart with fun Christmas accessories to complete the room and be ready for the guests to arrive.
